Objective: To probe into the influencing factors and laws of effect for the foaming property of acetaminophen effervescent suppositories
so as to provide reference for optimizing the prescription of new effervescent suppository preparation. Methods: The maximum foaming amount was used as the screening indicator
the effects of the mass ratio of base and foaming agent
the composition of mixed bases
the content of Tween-80 and the mass ratio of citric acid and sodium bicarbonate on the formability and foaming property were carried out via the single factor analysis. Results: The maximum foaming property of acetaminophen effervescent suppository was prepared with the mass ratio of polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000 to foaming agent of 1.6∶1
Tween content of 3.9% and acid-base ratio of 1∶2. Conclusion: PEG 6000 is the effective bases for the acetaminophen effervescent suppositories
and acid-base ratio is the main influencing factor for the foaming performance.
